Summary: The Head of Student Affairs is responsible for developing and overseeing the student life program at the university and assuring a student-centered environment.
Supervisor: Associate Vice President, Academic and Student Affairs
● Line manage the Student Affairs team and the core functions of the team such as Alumni Engagement, Student Welfare, Student Career Support, Student Government support, Student Clubs, and Student Social Activities
● Develop and implement a student life program that addresses the core functions above and interfaces with the academic programs
● In accordance with University procedures develop, implement, and oversee student regulations; develop and implement student support and student affairs policy and regulations.
● Handle student grievances within scope, report student disciplinary issues to the VPASA and provide support as needed.
● Organize and implement new student orientation.
● Oversee and implement the first-year experience program, including facilitating the FYE course for new students each semester.
● Support the relocation and acclimatization of international students, including study abroad and international exchange programs..
● Develop and manage processes and resources to meet the accommodation needs of students where necessary.
● Develop, implement, and oversee student awards processes.
● Implement and report on the Student Affairs portion of accreditation standards.
● Serve as university advocate and ombudsperson for students.
● Keep abreast of “best practices” in Student Affairs.
● Participate in regular and special staff meetings and other meetings as requested.
● Participate in professional development programs to remain current in the field.
● Represent the university in external meetings as requested.
● Attend university functions.
● Perform other duties as assigned by Associate Vice President Academic Affairs
● First Degree and ideally a Master’s degree in Student Affairs Administration, Higher Education, or related field.
● Previous experience in a higher education institution in student services or related experience
● Strong English skills, oral and written; bilingual in English/Khmer
● Strong organizational /management skills
● Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with young people
● Creative, innovative, energetic personality that is flexible and responsive
● Sound character, professional, ethical, fair, and confidential
● Willing to work nights and weekends, as required.
